Stakes
———
Here you can set your default buttons (stake and liability) and their values. Click on the button to change the button value.
These buttons appear in three interfaces, Grid (within Place bet window), V-Ladder (under the selection prices) and H-Ladder (next to selection prices).
1. Refresh intervals – By setting refresh intervals you choose how fast you want KingTrader to refresh and update market odds, matched/unmatched bets and the profit/loss figure. This means that KingTrader checks Betfair’s servers for the most up to date data, the fastest refresh possible is 200ms or 0.2s. Best option is to set the same values for all. Market data are market prices, money at each price, last traded price, total market matched and selection matched amount. Matched and unmatched bets are all placed bets on currently monitoring market. Profit/Loss is the sum of all matched bets on currently monitoring market selections.
2. Display API – Here you can set the limit values for API figure, so if something goes wrong in communication between you and Betfair, API figure will be painted in orange or red.
Miscellaneous
————
Close market tab with middle-click – As usual, you can close market tab by clicking on Close button or you can check this box and close market with mouse middle click.
Remember manual stake – This option is applicable only within Grid interface and Place bet window. If you are using Ladder or H-Ladder interface, manually entered stake is always remembered. If you check this box, the stake that is manually entered in the “stake” field, will be remembered and will be setted as default. If you don’t check the box, default stake will be the one you choose among stake buttons. Default stake button will be painted.

Big resoltion is good for bigger screens with higher resolution, small resolution is good for smaller screens like laptop screen, with lower resolution. When the market turns in-play – Sometimes events do not start exactly at scheduled time, but this sound will play when event actually starts in real time. Sound applies only on the currently monitoring market.
When a bet is matched – When you place a bet, it could be matched immediately after bet delay or later. Nevertheless, when bet becomes matched or its part, the sound will play. Sound applies only on the currently monitoring market.
When the market is suspended – During critical occasions Betfair suspend the market. During suspend status you can’t place a new bet, it will be denied. When market status becomes suspended, alert sound will play. Sound applies only on the currently monitoring market.
When the bet is not placed – When you place a bet and Betfair does not accept it, the sound will play. This can happen if you don’t have enough funds on your account or during market’s suspended status. Sound applies only on currently monitoring market.
When API goes over – Here you can set the limit for API figure. API figure shows the speed of communication between you and Betfair in milliseconds. If this speed hits the setted value, the software will play a warning sound. This means that something is wrong with communication between you and Betfair.
Metadata
————
Metadata – Useful information related to a horse or a jockey. If Metadata are available, click on the letter M (metadata) that is shown next to selection name and you will see information that you have chosen in Settings/Metadata.
Ladder
———
In Ladder settings you can choose which ladder rotation you want to use, ladder movements, and ladder cell dimensions.
1. Ladder Rotation – There are 3 types of rotation. The difference between these 3 types is that in every rotation, back/lay columns and bets are in a different position. Placing a bet is the same in all rotations, meaning that you must click on the purple cell to place a back bet or on the pink cell to place a lay bet. Also, offered bets to back are always displayed bellow offered bets to lay, because offered bets to back are always at lower prices than offered bets to lay.
Rotation None – This is the most common ladder rotation. Exchange lay bets are in pink cells, exchange back bets are in purple cells.
Rotation 1 – Similar to Rotation None, but with back column on the left, and lay column on the right side. Exchange lay bets are in pink cells, exchange back bets are in purple cells.
Rotation 2 – This rotation is similar to Grid interface. Prices are displayed vertically and exchange lay bets are in purple cells, and exchange back bets are in pink cells.
2. Ladder Mouse Scroll – There are 3 different types of ladder movements.
Always center – This option keeps the current prices in the centre. This can increase the risk of clicking on an unwanted price, because the prices are constantly moving, but it is a good way to buy the best available price, especially when the market is full and there is no available prices between the best back and the best lay price.
Manual – This option allows you to move the ladder up and down with mouse scroll wheel and after you release the wheel or leave the selection’s ladder area, the ladder will stay fixed.
Auto centre – This is similar to manual option, you can move the ladder with your mouse wheel, but when you move the mouse off the selection’s ladder, the ladder will be automatically centered with the best available prices in the centre.
3. V-Ladder Cell Dimensions – This feature allows you to change V-Ladder cell dimensions so you can control the number of visible prices in V-Ladder interfaces. If you move the slider to the left, the cell dimensions will decrease and you will see a greater range of ladder prices, but if you move it to the right, the cell dimension will increase and you will see a smaller range of ladder prices.
If you want to know more about Ladder go to chapter 4.Interfaces: V-Ladder and H-Ladder.
Bets
——
1. What if – It is a sum of current profit/loss and profit/loss of a potential bet, as if potential bet is already matched. What if figure is always shown next to the current profit/loss.
In Grid interface, what if figure will appear once you open a Place bet window. The software will calculate the potential bet profit/loss using stake and price that are entered in the Place bet window. If you change price, stake or side within Place bet window, what if figure will immediately apply changes into the calculation.
In V-Ladder and H-Ladder interface, what if figure will appear when your mouse arrow is pointing to a bet cell that is colored in back or lay color. Depending on cell color, price that is next to colored cell and default stake, app will calculate the what if figure.
2. Show bets tab after bet placement – If you suddenly place a bet, but Bets tab on the left that contains all your bets is not active, the software will activate Bets tab, so you can monitor your bet immediately after placement. This feature is good if you are placing a bet on currently monitoring market, but if you are placing a bet on market that you are not monitoring, but you want to check you bet immediately after placement, you should check the “Place bet activates market tab of that bet” box, too.
3. Place bet activates market tab of that bet – If you open a Place bet window within one market, but currently monitoring another market and suddenly decide to submit the Place bet window , but forgot the market name, the software will switch to the corresponding market tab, so you can immediately check your bet.
4. Matched controls display – This feature allows you to arrange and display your matched bets in 4 different ways, AveragePrice, AveragePriceRunnerSort,AllAverage and AllBets.
a) AveragePrice will show the whole stake that is matched and average matched price. Bets are arranged by time, the latest bet is on the top.
b) Like AveragePrice, this option shows matched stake and average price, but AveragePriceRunnerSort option also sorts bets by selection, the latest matched selection is on the top. Bets within selection are sorted by time, the latest bet within selection is on the top. Also, the latest bet moves latest matched selection on the top.
c) AllAverage shows the average sum and the average price for all your back bets and do the same for all your lay bets.
d) If you place a larger bet, there is a high possibility that this large bet contains many small bets that are individually matched with opposite bets from other Betfair users . AllBets option shows all these smaller bets separately, with the exact matched price and stake for every small bet. Also, you can choose to sort all smaller bets by highest matched price or highest matched stake.
If you want to know more about bets, go to chapter 5.Bets management.
Tools
——-
Within Tools tab in Settings you can choose your default active tools. If you check the tool’s box, that means that the tool will be active on every new market you open. When you open a new market you will see under Tools tab on the left, that this tool is active. Be careful with this if you don’t use the particular tool on every market. Also, you should be careful if you check more then one tool. They should work together successfully, but they are not designed to work simultaneously. Show bets tab after bet placement

Bets tab that is located on the left side of the software among all other Left tabs is displaying your matched and unmatched bets from currently displaying market.
If Bets tab is currently not active, but you decide to place a bet, you don’t need to switch to Bets tab manually. This feature will activate Bets tab immediately after bet placement, so you could monitor your bet.
Place bet activates market tab of that bet
——————————————————
If you have opened Grid’s place bet window, that is coming from market that you currently don’t monitor and you suddenly want to submit that place bet window, you don’t need to switch market manually. The software will activate the corresponding market (the market from which submitted place bet window is coming) and you will be instantly able to monitor the corresponding market. If you also tick “Show bets tab after bet placement” checkbox, the software will show Bets tab from the corresponding market, so you will be able to monitor your bet immediately.
Matched controls display
——————————–
This feature allows you to arrange and display your matched bets in 4 different ways, AveragePrice, AveragePriceRunnerSort,AllAverage and AllBets.
AveragePrice will show the whole matched stake and average matched price. Average price calculation is based on matched amount percentage on each matched price. If matched amount percentage is higher on particular price, the average price will be closer to that price. All bets are arranged by time, the latest bet is on the top.
This option also shows the whole matched stake and average matched price, but bets are sorted by selections. The latest matched selection is on the top. Also, bets within one selection are sorted by time, the latest bet is on the top.
AllAverage shows the whole sum and the average price for all your back bets and do the same for all your lay bets. So, if you place several back bets on one selection, the software will not show all bets separately, it will show only one bet with the whole stake sum and the average price for all back bets on this selection.
If you place a larger bet, there is a high possibility that this large bet is matched with many smaller bets. AllBets option shows all these smaller bets separately, with the exact matched price and stake for every smaller bet. This way you can detect if your bet is matched with one user or more, since each matched smaller bet represents a particular user that placed an opposite bet then you. Also, you can choose to sort all smaller bets by highest matched price or highest matched stake.

Chapter 6.
TOOLS
This chapter is about Tools. Here you will learn how to use all tools that we added to KingTrader application. Before you start using any tool, you need to understand how it works. In this chapter we will go through all tools and explain them step by step. That will help you to understand the potential of every tool and will bring you the knowledge. You will learn what is the best way to use the tool and when to use it.
TOOLS SETTINGS
Within Tools tab in Settings you can choose your default active tools. If you check tool box, that means that tool will be active on every new market you open. When you open a new market, you will see under Tools tab on the left that this tool is active. Be careful with this if you don’t use the particular tool on every market. Also, you should be careful if you check more then one tool. They should work together successfully, but they are not designed to work simultaneously.
STOP LOSS
The best way to keep losses in the check, and to lose as small amount as possible, is to use the Stop Loss tool. By using the Stop Loss facility, you can put a limit on how much you are prepared to lose from any trade. It is designed to be used as a safeguard against a trade moving against you, so when market hits Stop loss price, i.e. a trade occurs at your Stop loss price or higher (for Stop loss setted at back side)/lower (for Stop loss setted at lay side), the tool will immediately trigger a stop loss bet. You can use it manually or get it setted automatically for every trade you place. Stop Loss tool is operational for Grid, V-Ladder and H-Ladder interface.
When you set stop loss, it will be displayed:
1. Ribbon in Bets tab – As ribbon within Bets tab, under unmatched bets. Ribbon contains selection name, stop loss price, stop loss stake and tool name(SL-stop loss)
2. Ribbon in Ladder – As ribbon within selection ladder, in its lower part, under unmatched bets. Ribbon contains stop loss price, stop loss stake and tool name(SL-stop loss)
3. Cell – As cell painted in yellow, within selection ladder.
4. Set stop loss manually – To set stop loss manually, you don’t need to tick the Stop Loss checkbox. Just right-click on painted cell to set stop loss. That cell will be painted in yellow and ribbons will appear within Bets tab and selection ladder. Your stop loss price will be the price that is next to the painted cell that you clicked on. Your stop loss stake will be your default stake that will be written within yellow cell and ribbons.
If you set stop loss on lay side, it will trigger a bet if any trade occurs at your stop loss price or higher. Stop loss bet will be placed at setted stop loss price, with setted stop loss stake. If you set stop loss on back side, it will immediately trigger a bet if any trade occurs at your stop loss price or lower. Stop loss bet will be placed at setted stop loss price, with setted stop loss stake.
5. Cancel stop loss – If you want to cancel your Stop loss, just right click on the yellow cell or left-click on X button within any ribbon.
Auto
——
1. Auto stop loss – If you want stop loss to be setted automatically, at first you need to tick the Stop loss checkbox to activate it. When you check Stop loss checkbox, Auto checkbox will become checked, too.
2. Stop loss distance – Then set tick or percentage distance. It is a distance between initial bet price and the Stop loss price that will be set along with initial bet. The distance can be measured and setted in price increments or percentages.
3. Stop loss stake – Your Stop loss stake will be the same as your initial bet stake. When you place a bet, Auto feature will set Stop loss automatically, along with your bet. If your initial bet becomes unmatched, and you cancel it, stop loss will be cancelled, too.
Chase
——–
1. Stop loss with Chase – To use Chase tool along with Stop Loss tool, you need to tick Chase checkbox within Stop Loss and Chase as separate tool. Chase separate tool is right beneath Stop Loss tool.
2. Chase parameters – Once you tick them both, you need to set parameters within Chase tool. Chase parameter, Total ticks to move, represents the maximimum ticks that Chase tool will move your initial bet. Tick to move represents the number of ticks that Chase tool will move your initial bet in one single move. Sec between moving represents the pause between two movements.
Using these two features, the application will chase the price out to increase the chance of placing a matched bet. As your unmatched bet is moving, Stop Loss will follow it, keeping the same distance from your bet, as you set it within Stop Loss tool. If your initial bet is back, Chase tool will keep updating your bet by decreasing your bet price. If your initial bet is lay, Chase tool will keep updating your bet by increasing your bet price. Once your initial bet is matched, Stop Loss will stop moving.
If your cancel your initial bet, stop loss will be cancelled, too. If you want to know more about Chase tool go to chapter 6, Chase.
Trial
—–
To use Trail feature along with Stop Loss tool, you need to tick Trial checkbox within Stop Loss.
If you tick Trail box and Stop Loss box, and then place a bet, Stop Loss will appear automatically.
If you placed a back bet and it becomes matched, your Stop loss will stay at initial price if price moves up. If price moves down, your Stop loss will go down, too, always keeping the same tick distance from current price. But if price then turns and comes back up, your Stop loss will stay at its lowest point.
If you placed a lay bet and it becomes matched, your Stop loss will stay at initial price if price moves down. If price moves up, your Stop loss will go up, too, always keeping the same tick distance from current price. But if price then turns and comes back down, your Stop loss will stay at its highest point.
Hedge
——–
To use Hedge feature along with Stop Loss tool, you need to tick Hedge checkbox within Stop Loss. This feature is just like Auto, but with different stake for Stop Loss bet. Auto will use the same stake as it is used for initial bet, Hedge will use the appropriate amount to split the profit/loss only for this trade.
If you tick Hedge box and Stop Loss box, and then place a bet, Stop Loss will appear automatically. Within yellow cell, letter H(Hedge) will be written.
By ticking Hedge box, Stop loss triggered bet doesn’t just place a bet using the same stake that you used for initial bet. It will consider your initial bet stake and price as your Stop loss stake and price, and will calculate it to equally split your profit or loss on all selections across the market.
CHASE
This tool basically chases a price to increase the chance of getting matched bet.
1. Tool activation – First you need to tick the box to activate it.
2. Chase parameters – Then you need to manage how you would like to chase a price, by setting how many price increments you want to chase in total(Total ticks to move). Also you need to choose how many increments one movement(Ticks to move) should have and time interval(Sec between moving) between two movements.
Once you place a bet, and it becomes unmatched, Chase tool will start. It will wait for setted period to end(sec between moving) and will start to move your unmatched bet. If you placed a back bet, Chase tool will do the first bet movement and decrease your bet price for setted ticks(Ticks to move). If you placed a lay bet, Chase tool will do the first movement and increase your bet price for setted ticks(Ticks to move).
Between every bet movement, Sec between moving period has to pass. After this period, Chase tool will move your unmatched bet in the same way, until it becomes matched or until it reaches the movement limit(Total ticks to move).
DRIP FEED
This feature is used when you want to place a large back or lay bet into the market without causing the market to panic. It is much better to place more smaller equal bets in short period of time, then to place a large bet and to spooke the market.
1. Tool activation – First you need to tick the box to activate the tool.
2. Total stake amount – Define your total bet stake by entering the amount in the Total stake field.
3. Drip feed stake – Drip feed stake represents the small part of your total bet amount and stake for all small bets that tool will place, except the last one in some cases. E.g. If your Total stake is £8, and your Drip feed stake is £3, the tool will place two bets with £3 stake, and third with £2 stake.
4. Seconds between submission – Sec between submissions represents the period between two small bets placement.
5. Choose a selection – At the bottom of the Drip Feed tool you should choose the selection at which you want to use the tool. It is possible to choose only one selection.
6. Bet side – Once you choose the selection, you need to set your bet side by ticking the back or lay box.
7. Best/Last traded price – You can set Drip feed tool to place all small bets at best available price or last traded price. It means that Drip feed tool will check best available price or last traded price just before it place a small bet. The best available or last traded price will be updated before every small bet placement, and small bet placed at currently best price or currently last traded price.
8. Submit button – Now you should click the Submit button and first small bet will be placed.
1. Ribbon – Once you click on Submit button, Drip feed ribbon will appear within unmatched bets, under Bets tab and within unmatched bets, under selection’s ladder.
This ribbon contains:
2. Name – Selection name
3. Total unplaced stake – Remaining stake of Drip feed bet, waiting to be placed in next small bets.
4. Bet price – Represents your Drip feed choice between best available(BAP) and last traded price(LTP)
5. Tool name – Drip feed(DF)
6. Cancel button – If you decide to cancel currently ongoing Drip feed bet and stop the placement of unplaced small bets, simply cancel the Drip feed ribbon and remaining small bets will not be placed
If one small bet doesn’t become matched, Drip feed tool will not place the next small bet. It will wait until your placed bet becomes at least partly matched. Drip feed tool will not place the next small bet if last bet is fully unmatched.
If you choose to cancel small unmatched bet, doesn’t matter if unmatched bet is fully unmatched or partly, Drip feed ribbon will be cancelled, too. This means that none of remaining small bets will not be placed and that Drip feed bet is cancelled.
FILL OR KILL
This tool will cancel fully unmatched bet after a time set by you. It has a timer for how many seconds you wish the bet to be available in the market. Just enter a number and tick the Fill or Kill box to activate the tool and when you place a back or lay bet it will cancel that unmatched bet after the time that you have entered.
Once you tick the Fill or Kill box, enter cancel period and place the bet, the software will wait until that period ends, and will cancel your bet.
The bet will be cancelled only if it is fully unmatched. If your bet is partly matched, the unmatched part will not be cancelled. You will need to cancel it manually. To cancel it manually go to Bets tab, Unmatched bets, and cancel it. You can also cancel it within selection’s ladder, if your are using V-Ladder or H-Ladder.
TICK OFFSET
We use the Tick offset when we want to make a trade so that we get a profit which ever selection wins. What it does is when you place a bet and it becomes fully or partly matched, the tool will automatically trade off at the amount off ticks or percentages that you have set.
1. Tool activation – First you need to tick the Tick Offset box.
2. Choose a selection – Choose your selection at which you want to use the tool or leave All runners option. It means that you will use Tick Offset tool for all selections.
3. From bet price – “From bet price” represents the distance between your initial bet and tick offset bet. The distance can be measured and setted in price increments or perecentages.
4. Stake percentage trigger – “Stake percentage trigger” represents the percentage of your initial bet stake, that need to become matched before Tick Offset activates.
5. Hedge – By ticking Hedge box, Tick Offset triggered bet doesn’t just trade off by using the same stake that you used for initial bet. It will consider your initial bet stake and price as your Tick Offset price(depends on “From bet price”), and will calculate it to equally split your profit or loss on all selections across the market.
If you leave Hedge box unticked, Tick Offset tool will use the same stake amount for Tick Offset bets as you used for your initial bet.
Once you place a bet, and it becomes fully or partly matched (lowest percentage matched part must be as it is entered in “Stake percentage field”), the Tick offset tool will place the first Tick Offset bet.
If you initial bet becomes partly matched, Tick Offset will place the bet with equivalent stake, and trade off only the matched part of your initial bet. If another part of initial bet becomes matched in the next moment, Tick Offset will trade off that part, too. This can repeat until your initial bet becomes fully matched.
