About Me

Like most guys who grew up in the 80's, my husband is a comic book fanatic. He's read every superhero comic book that you can imagine from Superman to the X-Men series. I think it's the transformation that has him hooked on comics. Through them, he can imagine himself having super strength, super speed, the ability to read other people's minds, or even fly. Best of all, he can save the world from total annihilation and get the girl. He reads comics so much that he now reads them to our young daughter.

Tom and Jerry still plays today and is probably the most enduring of the old cartoons. The slapstick that characterizes this show translates into any language. Adults seem to like this sort of animation character as much as the kids do. I also loved the Pink Panther series because he was such a cool dude and I liked the Web toon jazz score that played on his show.

Comics were serious business until the Death of Superman (and then it exploded further) which created new problems and opportunities as the comic industry began new birth pangs in 1993.

Yet, before all the school recruiters faint in shock, I'd like to make the case for going to school. While it's true that there are many great books teaching the art of animation, a book cannot critique your work. It is the trained eye that can help advance your skill by leaps and bounds. With the structure provided by teachers, assignments and grades, the availability of equipment, and the inspiration supplied by peers, one has the best shot at learning the animation arts.

How many hours, days or weeks do you want to work on this project. Just as first step, this is extremely important because it will keep you on track.

First, start out with the Overstreet comic book Price Guide. You can buy the print guide, but I recommend the online version for ease of use. Follow the previous advice and look up your comics, focusing on looking for "keys" and any other comic books that are worth a lot of money. Make a list of your books by title, issue number, grade and guide price.

Apparently this is something that happens quite often in the animation industry. Aspiring animators have a love for doing animation and proceed to do in depth studies of 3D animation figuring it is the ultimate of the industry. They envision themselves developing such renowned characters like those that took place in Finding Nemo or Shrek 2. After becoming well exposed to the industry they soon find out that they are spending every hour of their working moments on animating characters yet this is what drew them to the industry. Therefore, in summary if this was or is your ultimate goal of getting into this line of work then you needs to determine what a career in 3D animation is.

Before you start writing, you should have the structure of the story in place. Do not write with the flow of your thoughts. You should have the whole story or a rough idea of the story in your mind. Your content should be clear and each sequence should have clarity and continuity. This will provide a clear picture to the artist. You cannot broaden your thoughts or ideas in this form of writing. Instead, you have to stay focused on the flow of the story by giving very precise descriptions.

Luckily for some, RPG's are not simply restricted to playing with other people. Honestly, some folks, well, just do not play well with others. Unfortunately for those people, game play can be a bit... predictable. Without additional live people behind the characters, the game is restricted to the AI it was programed with, instead of being able to make split second decisions. Non Playable Characters (NPC's) make the game function on a basic level, however, they lack the unpredictability that a human controlled toon has.

Illusion Mage basically taught me everything I needed to know to progress to the next level of software. Illusion Mage was incredible at the price it was 2 years ago when I bought it. Currently it is at an absolutely ridiculous promotional price of under $50. Illusion Mage has extensive support and video tutorials which make it a perfect starter software if you are thinking of testing the water in the world of animation. You cannot go wrong at this current price. A very good beginner product, in my opinion.
