We’re using a head collar to help the pulling and it’s helping great! He doesn’t follow treats either even thought it’s beef. And as far as the sniff breaks are concerned they’re not a bad idea, I just think it might be easier to focus on teaching your dog not to pull first. When you do decide to try some sniff time just make sure you use a cue with it such as "go sniff" when it’s OK to go explore and "let’s go" when it’s time to leave.

I’ve been caring for dogs all my life—my parents got a German shepherd puppy just a few months before I was born, and as soon as I was able, it was my job to walk her.
